Flavorful Studios is the practice of Maria C. Arango, a designer working in environmental graphics and experiential design. The studio makes places: retail windows, brand events, exhibitions, pop-ups, rooms that exist for a day and rooms that stay.
Maria's background runs across graphic, interior, and industrial design, and spatial work needs all three. A guest experiences a place as one thing, so someone has to think about the layout, the surface, the furniture, and the sign at the same time. That is the part she likes.
Most of the studio's work starts with a brand and ends with a room. The interesting problem is always the same one: brand assets are made flat, and space is not. Lately the studio has been drawn toward immersive and themed environments, where that gap is widest and the fiction has to hold up close.
